YooJin Baik

Born in South Korea, in a Christian family with her father serving as a Pastor, she was exposed to music early, and began violin lessons at the age of four in a music preschool where a famous Korean composer “Woonyoung Na” was serving.

She  studied in Shenyang Conservatory, China.  In the Tchaikovsky Conservatory, Kiev,Ukraine, and at the Hochschule fuer Musik “Hanns Eisler” Berlin, Germany.  She was awarded the final degree of music-Konzertexamen with Highest Honors and was selected to be Soloist for the ceremony.



In her broad international experience.  She has appeared as a soloist at Shenyang Concert Hall, China, the Detmold Concert House, the Weimar fest hall, the Maanheim Ernst-Toch-Hall, the Berlin town Hall.  She also appeared at the Schleswig-Holstein Music festival in Luebeck, Germany. She played at the invitation of the Korean Embassy in Kiev, Ukraine and at the invitation the German Embassy in the US.

Ms Baik served as Concertmaster for the Detmold Chamber Orchestra and in Detmold Summer Academy Orchestra,in Germany and was first violin at the Bielefeld Philharmonic.

While studying in Haans Eisler Berlin, she participated in workshops with world famous Conductors Seiji Ozawa, Zubin Mehta, and Simon Rattle, performed in Berlin Philharmonie chamber hall.

She has maintained her interest in Chamber music and graduated with a Chamber music  Master degree with the Auryn Quartet with  highest honors. She had a master class with well known violinists Midori, Arnold Steinhardt first. violin in the Guarneri Quartet, Igor Ozim among others.

Her studies were supervised  by Prof. Michael Vogler, and  Prof. Thomas Christian.

While she was a member of  the Young German Philharmonic Orchestra, she was a chosen musician for an American concert tour , performed in San Francisco with the Berkeley Symphony under the conductor Kent Nagano, that experience made her feel very positive about the U.S.

She is currently performing  in many  churches around DC, and produced her first. live CD in 2015. She also performs as a member of Trio Kalos.  She is a music director in CCPC and conducts as well.

She is using a violin made by Howard Needham in 2011, which is modeled after a violin by Antonio Stradivari.
